Piccadilly Gardens is a vibrant hub in the heart of Manchester, known for its bustling activity, green spaces, and as a key entry point to the city. Despite its importance, we all recognise the challenges it faces. Now, we have an opportunity to reshape this iconic area into a space that truly reflects the spirit of Manchester.
Our vision is to make Piccadilly Gardens a safer, greener, and more welcoming place for everyone. Imagine a space with a strong Manchester identity, ideal for events, gatherings, and everyday relaxation. We envision better transport routes, enhanced biodiversity, and cleaner air.
We invite you to join us in this exciting transformation.
Our Vision for Piccadilly
As a major transport hub and green space, Piccadilly Gardens is essential to both residents and visitors. This is what we want to see:
Create Safer Spaces: Ensure accessible and secure routes for commuters and visitors.
Foster Community: Develop areas for events, gatherings, and social interactions.
Enhance Biodiversity: Promote green spaces that support diverse plant and animal life.
Improve Air Quality: Implement measures to reduce pollution and promote a cleaner environment.
While certain elements, like tram routes and memorials, will remain unchanged, many aspects can be improved. To bring this vision to life, LDA Design, a specialist landscape design consultancy, has been engaged to generate initial ideas and proposals.
